How this mileage calculator works

Enter the distance you traveled and the amount of fuel you used. The calculator converts everything internally to miles and gallons, then shows your fuel efficiency in all three common units: MPG, L/100km, and km/L.

The formulas

MPG = Distance (miles) ÷ Fuel (gallons)

L/100km = 235.215 ÷ MPG

km/L = MPG × 0.425144

Conversion factors

• 1 mile = 1.60934 km
• 1 gallon = 3.78541 liters
• 1 MPG = 0.425144 km/L
• 1 MPG = 235.215 L/100km (inverse)

MPG and km/L are "higher is better" — more distance per fuel unit. L/100km is "lower is better" — less fuel per distance.
